Happy Friday! A Little Re-Vamping of the Goldfish Tank

Hello again everyone and happy Friday!

Hope your week is going good, mine was very slow, I’ve just been very tired the past few days. I blame it on not getting enough rest before-during- and after vacation! Anyways, I just wanted to check in and let you guys know what I’ve been up too.

Honestly, It’s been pretty quiet lately. Now that Betty White is gone, there isn’t really much going on with the tank. I did however add all of the silk plants back to the tank that have been out since before Christmas. It looks so much better In there now and I think the babies like having more to rummage through and explore. It also looks much more natural. Here is what the tank looked like before, as you can see it’s quite boring:

This tank really needed a revamp, and with being snowed in for the past week it gave me something to do. Here are pictures of the added silk plants. I still want to add more, but this is what I had on hand at the moment and these fish will be moved outside hopefully within the next month or so, so I didn’t want to get out of hand with it.

I was in the process of filling the tank up during this photo shoot because I couldn’t wait to snap pictures! I think the fish enjoy it more because there is more for them to do and plants to swim through, so their days are not spent sitting idle and they have a more interactive life. I also put the anubias plants In little glass holders because they look pretty and honestly, I’m tired of them getting loose in the tank from the goldfish sifting through the sand. I stacked the river rocks up in the center of the tank over the air hoses to make a more serene setting. Let me know what you think!

The nano tank is also doing well still. I haven’t had a chance to do a water change in over a week though, and it is on my list of things to do within the next day or so.ย  I have been wanting to get out to my LFS and pick up some more fish to add to my tank. I haven’t decided what I want yet, but I have been keeping an eye on the weekly live tank tours that my LFS does through Facebook. If I head down there this weekend, I’ll fill you in on what I pick up ๐Ÿ™‚

I still haven’t ordered my fish from coast gem USA. Mostly because all I’ve been doing is running around and I need to call them again to let them know specifically what I’m looking for. Meanwhile, Dandy Orandas had an amazing couple of red and white butterflies in this past weekend’s auction. As always, I forgot to take a peek early when the auction commenced and missed out on two of the most beautiful red and whites I’ve seen from him to date. I keep biting myself in the butt because I don’t see things for week’s on end and then I start to back off the auctions and BAM I miss out on the really nice ones. So if I haven’t ordered anything from Coast Gem by this weekend then I am most definitely planning on picking something up from Dandy Orandas. I am running out of time to quarantine before spring, but the way the weather has been looking the past week or so, it seems spring will never get here. I am just hoping we have a somewhat early spring, we usually get pounded with snow storms this time of year and it seems that the warm weather will never reach us. This time of year is hard for people up North because we are in the final stretch of winter and people are so tired of being cooped up and seasonal depression is usually at it’s highest peak this time of year. But! I am going to stay hopeful and continue to make plans for my spring and summer breeding to help me get through it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and if you’re up north, stay warm and stay positive! We can see the light at the end of this long wintery tunnel ๐Ÿ™‚

Talk to you soon,
