Hope your weekends were good (I know it’s Thursday, but I’m late to the party). I had a relaxing weekend, we ended up not going to the aquarium like I stated in my last post. It was cold and snowy on Saturday and although it wasn’t snowing enough to not drive anywhere-let’s be honest, it was just too cold to leave the house.
So I decided to stay in and take care of my goldies and my nano tank. I would like to start out by saying that planted aquariums are HARD, and they require some knowledge of aquatic plants and patience. Almost all of my plants had turned brown and keeled over, I’m not sure what I did wrong. I made sure to plant according to their needs (as far as roots covered/not covered) maybe it was too much light? Who knows, what I do know is that I took them all out except for the remaining few that were doing okay, put some anubias plants in their to fill it in (because they are easy to care for) along with some fake silk plants and a moss ball. I also bought a 5 lb bag of Carib Sea white sand for the bottom because frankly, I hate the black eco gravel.
It’s not aesthetically pleasing to the eye and it’s very hard to see the fish. Since putting the white sane in there It’s much more inviting and I can actually see the fish! So with the let down of the plants, I guess it all worked out in the end. I’m definitely a fake plant kind of girl.
UPDATE: I have finally made contact with the man over at the potential job in Florida. I am scheduled to make a visit to the site to meet with him and get a tour of the facility. I’m WAY excited for this. I do have some rather blah news though…
After much debating, deliberation and back and forth, my fiancé and I decided we will not be moving to Florida. The reason being that he loves his job and has worked very hard to get where he is and I just can’t take that away from him. However, he said that in a few years he would consider transferring down to another site within the company that is in the neighborhood of where we were looking to move. So there’s that 🙂
I do have some other news though, we decided we will be taking a vacation to Florida. It is very cold and gloomy here and I have a bad case of the winter blues. I need to be outside and in sunshine. So we will be heading down to the sunshine state in February! We have a whole Itinerary planned and I couldn’t be more excited! One of the stops that I am probably most excited for is a nice kayak down the Weeki Wachee springs.
These waters are so clear you can see right through them! And also, manatees like to come up and swim with you.
We are also going to be heading over to the everglades to see what it has to offer, and to be right out in the open with the wild. I would love to take one of those giant fan boats, which we will most likely do because it’s hard to get up close and personal with nature there (because they want to kill you).
Well I don’t want to give away all of our plans, I’ll have nothing to talk about when the time comes!
